They're professional, helpful, accomodating, and downright NICE. But that doesn't stop them from needing to pay rent in downtown Portland. They wanted to charge me $180 for a valve cover gasket on my 1981 VW Rabbit Pickup. This WOULDN'T be ridiculous because the parts only cost $10, or because I was already spending $355 with them, or even because of the fact that they charged $66 to diagnose a bad tie rod (turn the steering wheel, have a buddy check if it's loose, 5 minutes)... The real reason I found it ridiculous and respectfully declined was because I had just replaced the valve cover gasket 200 miles ago! I just got lazy and didn't wipe down all the old, dried oil. I liked the way they helped me out and it honestly pained me with disappointment hearing Vince try to add a $180 charge for something unnecessary. Oil doesn't dry that fast and sadly, they know that.. It could have been an earnest mistake on their part, but they went so far as to ask me if they could add the $180 to my bill right away. Re-Born, please take an extra 5 minutes to verify issues that could cost your customers half of their weekly paycheck to fix. Sincerely, a San Diegan construction worker. God Bless.
David, I'm sorry we weren't able to meet your needs on the financial end. Our technicians are of the highest quality and they take great pride in their work and inspections. On older vehicles it can be overwhelming and there are certainly items that can be left alone and monitored. The technicians report what they see, and our service advisers help you make the best decisions. The best to you and God bless! - Vince
